NearBee ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we store it, and your rights regarding your data.

This policy applies to the NearBee mobile application and related services.

A. Personal Information

During signup and profile creation, we collect:

  • Name / Username

  • Email address

  • City

  • Bio information

  • Profile photo

Social Media Profile Links

  • Facebook (optional)

  • Instagram

  • Snapchat

  • LinkedIn (optional)

Purpose

  • To create and display your user profile

  • To help nearby users recognize and connect with you

  • To personalize your experience

  • To enable social discovery features

  • To allow other users to view and access your social media profiles through in-app social media icons

  • To verify user authenticity

User Control

  • You can add social media profile links during signup

  • You can update social media links anytime in the Settings screen

  • Other users will only see social media icons for profiles you have linked


B. Password & Authentication

Authentication is handled exclusively by Firebase Authentication (Google).

  • Passwords are securely transmitted using HTTPS encryption

  • Firebase stores passwords using industry-standard cryptographic hashing

  • We never have access to your actual password

  • Passwords are never stored on our servers or in our application

Password Recovery

If you forget your password, use the "Forgot Password" option in the app. A secure password reset link will be sent to your registered email address. You may also update your password from within the app after signing in.

Password Security Best Practices

  • Use strong, unique passwords

  • Never share your password with anyone

  • Change password regularly

  • Log out from untrusted devices


C. Location Data

We collect real-time location data only when the app is open and active.

Purpose

  • To show nearby users

  • To enable local discovery features

  • To provide location-based matching

  • To calculate distances between users

  • To power location-based recommendations

Important Clarifications

  • Location access is requested with user consent

  • Location permission can be denied during onboarding

  • Users can disable location access anytime via device settings

  • We do not track users in the background

  • We do not store historical location movement or location history

  • Only the last known location is stored for nearby matching

  • Location data is not shared with third parties

  • We do NOT track location in background

User Control

Users can:

  • Deny location permission during onboarding

  • Disable location anytime in device settings

  • Clear app data to reset location access

Location is only used while the app is active.

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION – Precise GPS coordinates (if enabled)

  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION – Approximate location via network


D. Notifications

We use push notifications for:

  • Compliments received

  • App updates

  • Important service messages

  • Security alerts

Notifications require user permission and can be disabled anytime from device settings.


E. User Content

We collect content created by users including:

  • Profile information

  • Compliments (anonymous messages)

  • Suggestions

  • Reason for deleting account

  • Social media profile links


F. Compliments

Compliment Feature & Content Moderation

Users must send respectful compliments only.

Abusive, inappropriate, or illegal content will result in:

  • Warnings

  • Account suspension

  • Permanent termination

  • Potential legal reporting

Users are responsible for the content they share.

We do not encourage abusive, harmful, or illegal content.

Prohibited Content in Compliments

  • Hate speech or discrimination

  • Sexual or explicit content

  • Harassment, bullying, or threats

  • Spam or commercial solicitation

  • Illegal activities

  • Misinformation or false claims


2. Automatically Collected Information

The app may automatically collect limited technical data for performance and security purposes, including:

Users manually provide their social media profile URLs.

Social media icons in the app directly link to user-provided profiles.

When users click on social media icons in another user's profile, they are directed to that platform's website/app. Social media platforms' privacy policies apply to those interactions.


5. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

  • Operate and maintain the app

  • Provide core features (user profiles, discovery, compliments)

  • Enable location-based user discovery

  • Provide push notifications

  • Improve performance and fix bugs

7. Data Retention

Account Data

  • Active accounts: retained as long as the account is active

  • Deleted accounts: permanently removed within 48 hours of deletion request

  • Deleted compliments: removed immediately from database

Location Data

  • Real-time location used only during active app session

  • Historical location never stored

Social Media Links

  • Retained in your profile for display

  • Permanently deleted when account is deleted

Analytics Data

  • Firebase Analytics: retained per Google's default (14 months)

  • Crash logs retained for debugging

  • Anonymous data may be aggregated indefinitely


8. Data Sharing

We do NOT:

  • Sell, trade, or rent user data

  • Share data with advertisers

  • Share location data with third parties

  • Share social media profile links with third parties

  • Share personal information with external companies

We only share data:

  • With Firebase services for app functionality

  • When required by law or court order

  • To protect legal rights and prevent fraud

  • With law enforcement if Terms & Conditions are violated

Users can manage:

  • Update name, bio, profile photo

  • Add or update social media profile links

  • Change city

  • Enable/disable social media platforms in settings

  • Enable/disable visibility in settings

  • Disable location via device settings

  • Control notifications via device settings

Data Controls

  • View and update profile information

  • Change password

  • Delete account (48-hour recovery window)


10. Social Media Links Policy

Users can:

  • Add or update social media links anytime

  • Display social media icons publicly

  • Update links individually

  • Control which platforms are visible

We store only the URL provided.

We do NOT access or collect data from social media accounts.


11. Account Deletion Policy

Users can request deletion via:

Settings → Delete Account

Process

  • Account marked for deletion

  • 48-hour recovery window

  • After 48 hours, permanent deletion of:

• Profile information
• Social media links
• Compliments
• Location data
• Profile photos

Recovery

Log in within 48 hours to cancel deletion.

After 48 hours, deletion is irreversible.

Changes may become effective immediately or 30 days after notice.

21. User Blocking & Reporting

To help maintain a safe and respectful environment, NearBee provides features that allow users to block or report other users and compliments.

User Blocking

Users can block another user through the app interface.

If a user is blocked:

  • The blocked user's profile will no longer appear in nearby discovery or profile results

  • The blocked user cannot interact with you

  • The blocked user cannot send compliments

Blocking helps users control who can interact with them on the platform.


Reporting Users

Users may report other users if they believe a profile violates:

  • NearBee policies

  • Community guidelines

  • Applicable laws

When a report is submitted:

  • The report is securely sent to the NearBee administration system

  • Administrators review the report from the backend

  • Appropriate actions may include:

• Warning the user
• Content removal
• Temporary suspension
• Permanent account termination


Blocking Compliments

Users can block compliments from specific users.

If compliments from a user are blocked:

  • You will no longer receive compliments from that user

  • Future compliments from that user will be restricted


Reporting Compliments

Users may report compliments that contain:

  • Abusive content

  • Harmful content

  • Illegal content

  • Inappropriate content

When a compliment is reported:

  • The report is reviewed by the NearBee administration team

  • Moderators evaluate the content using backend moderation tools

  • Administrators may remove the content and take action against the sender if policy violations are confirmed

All reports are handled to maintain platform safety and compliance with community standards.
